Our Goals

The Rotary Club of Hillsborough supports the following initiatives:

Youth STRIVE Scholarship Program

STRIVE is a scholarship program that recognizes and rewards students in general, practical or academic courses who show significant improvement in overall performance in their senior year of high school. STRIVE challenges these students to improve their school achievements, gain self confidence and develop post secondary education goals.

Youth Parliment

Rotary Clubs of PEI have organized this annual two-day event for Island high school students for over 20 years.  Students from all over the Island act as MLAs during the  event and have the opportunity to present and debate

International Aid

Each year the Rotary Club of Hillsborough matches individual member donations to Rotary International - totaling close to $10,000 annually - directed to international humanitarian initiatives, including: promoting peace, fighting disease, providing clean water, saving mothers and children, promoting education and growing local economies.

Youth Exchange

Rotary Youth Exchange is a study abroad opportunity for local youth to spend a year  as an international student hosted by local rotary clubs.  Rotary Youth Exchange is the opportunity of a lifetime for the more than 8,000 students who participate each year. By sharing their own culture and embracing a new one, students help foster global understanding—and learn a great deal about themselves and their home country in the process

Therapeutic Riding Association of PEI

Local organization committed to the enhancement of the physical, emotional, and social well-being of children and adults with disabilities through various forms of therapeutic riding.

Famers Helping Farmers

Based in Charlottetown, PEI, this internationally recognized registered program has carried out several hundred development projects in both Kenya and Tanzania. Financial inputs since 1980 exceed $10 million Canadian, including funds contributed by the CIDA. These projects are estimated to have touched the lives of at least 100,000 people in East Africa.
